The Camel Trail
The Holiday Cottages are a short distance from The Camel Trail, a Cornwall County Council pedestrian and cycle path.
The path follows the Camel River from Wenfordbridge on the edge of Bodmin Moor, some 15 miles to Padstow on the Camel estuary.
The trail can be joined at Hellandbridge, approximately 800 metres from the cottages. The trail follows the route of a former railway line and is of even gradient for its whole length making it ideal for walkers and cyclists. Apart from a few road crossings the trail is closed to cars.
The trail offers a great variety of scenery through the secluded wooded valley from Dunmere to Wenfordbridge, the open water meadows from Dunmere to Wadebridge and the spectacular estuary from Wadebridge to Padstow.
Photographers will also appreciate the sunrise and sunset over the estuary, with autumn mists and clear winter air. There are numerous places to stop for picnics or just sit quietly and watch the wildlife.
